Why We Race: The Numbers

Rubber Ducky

$13

Earning $13/hour, a person needs to work 117 hours/week to afford the average 1-bedroom rental in Florida. source

Homelessness is up 28%

Rubber Ducky

27%

Increase in number of homeless persons classified as Veterans over previous year.

Rubber Ducky

92%

Percent of those served by Pathway who remain in stable, permanent housing.

Nearly 3,000 men, women and children in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties are living in emergency homeless shelters, their cars, the woods or on the streets.  Part of the problem is that there are not enough affordable housing options. Earning minimum wage, a single person would need to work 117 hours each week to afford the average one-bedroom rental in Florida. This count does not include those who were not found on the night of the count, doubled up with relatives/friends or living in a motel until their money runs out. According to Orange County Public Schools’ figures, nearly 9,700 students experienced homelessness over the past academic year.

Join with us as we shed a light on the problem of homelessness here in our own community and raise funds to help more people find a way to home.

Support awareness efforts by following Pathway on social media and sharing our posts!
